Milagres PU College, Hampankatta, Mangalore celebrated World Environment Day on Monday, 5June 2023. The programme was organised by Eco Club in association with NSS. Around 120students attended the programme which was held in the PU college auditorium. The programmebegan with a prayer song by the college choir.Principal Mr Melwin Vas inaugurated this event by planting the Tulsi plant and watering it. Staffmembers and student representatives also watered the plant. Addressing the students the Principalsaid “World Environment Day reminds us of our duties towards mother earth. We should be aware ofthe serious harm we cause to our environment. The factories, industries and the exhaust fromvehicles affect the quality of the air we breathe and the water we consume.” He further advised thestudents to plant at least one tree and nurture it.NSS programme officer Mr Kiran Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Mrs Juliet Pinto, lecturer in Hindi,and Mrs Hilda Lobo, lecturer in History were also present during the event.The programme was compered by Ahmed Nissar of II HEBA and the Significance of the day was readby Mohammed Saqib Khan from II CEBA
